It has been only nine days since I began photographing the disaster in my homeland but it feels like already a long time. Besides shooting general scenes, I have been interviewing victims of the disaster for my project. Husband who couldn’t rescue his wife, a woman feels full of survivor’s guilt after losing her younger sister, a father still looking for the remains of his daughter around the area where their house “used to be”…. I can’t find any word to return and only thing I can do is just listening to them.

DON WEST these images of japan are the most visually coherent capture of chaos i’ve seen….if it is possible to capture such….as always the prophetic eye – kuni

Jak Kuni, i am sad that you had to go thru such an event. your images speak loudly, they are so personal and telling.
i don’t pray often, but my prayers are with you, your family, and all effected.

Laura Garcia Powerful images, Kuni. My heart goes out to you and the people of Japan.

Vin Catania Kuni,

I looked over your images today after Greg Mironchuck told me about them in the Herald. They are some of the strongest aftermath pictures I’ve seen to date.

Another Boston friend.

The people of Australia wrap their arms around the people of Japan in solidarity. Japan will overcome this tragedy and learn valuable lessons so this can never happen again.
Be brave and strong.
