Keisuke Togawa 数ヶ月前、オーストラリア人が書いた「シャンタラム」という小説を読みました。あまり読んだ事がないスタイルの物語でした。シャンタラムは、ムンバイのスラムが舞台の中心になっているものです。著者は、オーストラリアで、刑務所に入れられ、脱走してムンバイにたどり着いたそうです。高橋さんの写真とエッセイから、ムンバイの魅力が伝わってきます。私は本日「FRAMES OF LIFE」を購入しました。

Kuni Takahashi シャンタラムの本はまだ読んだことはありませんが知っています。マキシマム・シティーもお勧めです。これらの本ほど劇的ではありませんが、拙書を買っていただきありがとうございました。

Keisuke Togawa ムンバイを拠点にした高橋さんは「シャンタラム」の著者に共感するかもしれません。
著者はスラムに住み着き、偽医者をやっていたらしく、そのために警官が強制送還させずに、見逃していたらしいのです。この小説は私小説だと伝えられており、とてもリアルなものとなっています。
著者はオーストラリアで刑を終え、現在もムンバイのスラムで診療所を続けているようです。
Maximum City : Suketu Mehta著。あらすじを読みましたが、ノンフィクション系で面白そうです。機会をつくって読んでみます。
