Red Cross Commemoration

Members of Red Cross hold torch as they march Solferino, Italy on June 21, 2014 to commemorate the battle of Solferino which took place on June 24, 1859. The battle, resulted in the victory of the allied French Army and Sardinian Army against the Austrian Army, inspired Henry Dunant to set about a process that led to the Geneva Conventions and the establishment of the International Red Cross.
