Due to the lack of rain during last year's monsoon, Mumbai is facing one of the worst water shortage in its history and the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (BMC) has cut 15 % of its water supply earlier in the year 2010. Water thieves, who connect illegal pipes to the city's water line and steal water for sale, are blamed for a part of the shortage.
